Fibers from Forest

Viscose is a common name for man-made regenerated cellulosic fibers that are formed from natural polymers that are chemically dissolved and then extruded as a continuous filament. The raw material for viscose is commonly fast growing woods, so there is no need for fertilization or irrigation. However, the traditional viscose process uses chemicals that cause emissions which have significant environmental implications when not treated properly and discharged untreated as in any chemical process. That is why strict effluent treatment and discharge protocols are important.

We have now substituted our viscose fabrics with Tencel™, Ecovero™ and REFIBRA™. They are also a regenerated cellulosic fibers which are made in the EU, and have closed loop production where almost all of the solvent is purified and recycled back into main process. These fibers also come from sustainable grown forests. This way the impact to the environment can be even reduced.

The lining in some of our jackets and some older digiprinted fabrics such as Crystal Seeker print are made of viscose. We use European supplier to ensure better production processes and following of rules and regulations. The lining fabric for our jackets is made in Germany, and digiprinted Crystal Seeker fabric from our previous collection is made in Italy. These both are made according to REACH regulations and final fabrics are Oekotex-100 certified.

Our lining viscose is produced from FSC-certified cellulose sourced from the close-by forests in the Northern countries and produced in Europe by ENKA. This ensures that we are not directly or indirectly contributing to the destruction of ancient nor endangered forests. ENKA also takes good care of handling waste water and emissions according to European regulations.

Tencel™

TENCEL™ fibers originate from the renewable raw material wood, from natural forests and sustainably managed plantations. The certified biobased fibers are manufactured using an environmentally responsible production process by Lenzing in Austria. Tencel Lyocell solvent-spinning process recycles process water and reuses the solvent at a recovery rate of more than 99%. The fibers are certified as compostable and biodegradable, and thus can fully revert back to nature.

Tencel has a silky feel and light shimmer. It is naturally antibacterial and feel cool and smooth on your skin.

Ecovero™

ECOVERO™ Viscose fibers are derived from sustainable wood and pulp, coming from certified and controlled sources. The fibers have been certified with the EU Ecolabel as meeting high environmental standards throughout their life cycle. The manufacturing of LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers generates up to 50% lower emissions and water impact compared to generic Viscose.

Our Ecovero fabrics are light and airy with MORICO unique digiprints printed by Achille Pinto in Italy.

REFIBRA™

REFIBRA™ Tencel fibers are made by Austrian Lenzing company and have up 50% upcycled cotton scraps from garment production and post-consumer waste mixed with wood pulp from sustainably managed forests. The fibers are produced in environmentally friendly closed loop production, and the REFIBRA™ technology use 95% less water compared to conventional cotton.

REFIBRA Tencel circulates well since fibers are certified as fully compostable and biodegradable, and products can fully revert back to nature.
